Real-time search is seen as something very valuable to the user, for those companies who fail to embrace the power of social media, then they will be the ones left behind.
We recently mentioned that Google had launched its real time search, and the search engine giant has now included Twitter in these search results, something that makes the normal search results more interesting. Google have certainly been busy lately, not only have they launched this new feature but also Goggles as well.
The most difficult problem that Google has to solve is ranking tweets, as most microblogging search engines sort the results by date and aren’t able to filter spam and irrelevant results.
However, both companies have been very aggressive in their strategic partnerships with Facebook and Twitter. This is something that Google and Bing do not want to happen, hence these latest new features. Google now understand how important both social media and real time search is for consumers and businesses.
Twitter’s blog explains why the company co-founded by two ex-Googlers partnered with Google. “Our friends down in Mountain View want to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful. A fast growing amount of information is coursing through Twitter very quickly, and we want there to be many ways to access that information. As part of that effort, we’ve partnered with Google to index the entire world of public tweets as fast as possible and present them to their users in an organized and relevant fashion.
